October 23, 2012 – Providence, RI – The Retail Project RI today announced the launch of their first retail brand, Felix Chien and the online store FelixChien.com. Felix Chien is a go-to retailer for high-fashion dog apparel and accessories and will be competing nationwide to be the leading retail brand in this space.
Felix Chien is also proud to be showcasing Island Dog Design as our initial featured designer. Island Dog Design is a Warwick, RI creator of beautiful dog beds made from high-quality natural materials which are now offered for sale in the FelixChien.com online store.
The Retail Project RI was launched with the support of the inaugural Rhode Island Innovation Fellowship, awarded to founder Soren Ryherd in April 2012 by the Rhode Island Foundation. The mission of The Retail Project RI is to rapidly create, prototype and grow new national retail concepts that can support a vibrant brick-and-mortar retail mix in Rhode Island. The first brand, Felix Chien, will be followed by other brands, with a plan of creating and testing over 100 new retail concepts over the next 6-10 years. The second brand, Urbilis, a retail concept on design-forward products for the urban gardener, is in the development stage.
The Retail Project RI expects to create exceptional job growth and bring in outside revenues to fuel the local Rhode Island economy through leveraging core Rhode Island strengths in performance-based marketing, design, fashion, product development, specialty manufacturing, warehousing & fulfillment, and retail management.
